THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE

When the numbers agree too late.

Finance has one view and operations has another. Repeated consolidation and reconciliation leave less time to understand cost movements, challenge assumptions and look ahead.

  • Can you connect a margin movement to the underlying work and cost?
  • Are management measures defined consistently across teams?
  • Which reporting gaps make a forecast or investment decision harder to defend?

ONE LOGIC ENGAGEMENT / POWER GENERATION

One financial view after a series of acquisitions.

The acquisition challenge

A power-generation company needed to bring the financials of its plants into a single view. Most of the assets in scope had been acquired recently. Integrating financial reporting across that portfolio was the company’s highest-priority project at the time.

Working with finance leadership

One Logic worked directly with the VP of Finance and senior accounting manager to define and implement the strategy for integrating plant financials. We connected the underlying financial information and built the consolidated dashboard around their reporting priorities.

One view of the combined business

Finance leadership gained a single dashboard bringing together financial information from across the plant portfolio, including recently acquired assets. The company could review the combined business through one financial view, supported by a coordinated approach to preparing and reporting the underlying figures.

A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Start with the decision that matters.

Begin with the management question and the measures behind it. Assess the gaps when the cause is unclear, or implement an agreed reporting improvement when the basis is established.
